Let’s Celebrate!

1 August 2019

It’s August, which means it’s almost back to school time. As we start to get ready for September, many of us tend to look back and reminisce about the previous school year. Here at Super Troopers with laya healthcare, we have had a truly super 2018/19 school year with 1,629 schools taking part -that’s 254,000 children and their families having fun being active together!

On our lovely new website www.supertroopers.ie, we have been adding brand new physical activities, wellbeing challenges, tasty recipes and nutritional tips every month, from guided meditation, laughing yoga, happy challenges, family fitness and wellbeing days to healthy lunchboxes and hearty breakfasts.

This year, the Super Troopers team have been out and about, receiving lots of feedback about the programme. In January, the team attended the Irish Primary Principals Conference along with 1,200 principals. We had a great time playing with our giant 3-D tangram, eating yummy fruit and hearing how schools were incorporating Super Troopers into their school day.

Throughout the year, we also heard from lots of schools who explained why they were a ‘Super School’, these schools were awarded a combined total of €2,000 in vouchers!

We were delighted to get in on the action at the City Spectacular festival again this year in Dublin and in Cork in July. The Super Troopers Graffiti Wall, Smoothie Making Bikes and activities were a massive hit and were rarely without a queue, even Johnny Sexton, the Rugby World Player of the Year stopped by to get his ‘graffiti on’. Leinster Rugby’s Leo the Lion also came by to try our rugby kicking competition, he didn’t win but fortunately he already has his own Leinster rugby jersey and we’re pretty sure his team will sign it for him!

As we’ve been out and about talking to children, parents, teacher and principals we have been listening and thinking of ways to make 2019/2020 an even better year. We’re delighted to announce that this year the health homework journals will be available in 3 levels to better suit the different age groups:

  • Junior Journals for junior and senior infants
  • Intermediate Journals for 1st to 3rd class pupils
  • Senior Journals for 4th to 6th class pupils

For 2019/2020, we are also thrilled to let you know that our Super Troopers materials will be available in Irish for the 1st time. There will also be brand new activities and challenges in our school materials and on our website to ensure your family stays healthy and happy again this year!

We’d love to hear what you’re excited about for the coming year with Super Troopers! Let us know at supertroopers@realnation.ie.
